Terms of use

These terms govern use of the Charterwa website and marketplace by companies and their authorised users. They are written for commercial users in Nigeria and West Africa. They are not a charter party.

The service

Charterwa provides pages and tools to publish vessel and service listings, inspect specifications, send charter or service requirements, and record shipyard enquiries. Access may require a company account. We may refuse, suspend, or remove an account or a listing that is misleading, unlawful, or outside the purpose of the marketplace.

Your responsibilities

You must have authority to bind the company you register. Information you publish — vessel particulars, availability, credentials, and prices — must be accurate to the best of your knowledge and kept up to date. You are responsible for cabotage, flag, class, sanctions, and local content compliance that applies to your own trade. You must not use the site to scrape accounts, misrepresent a mandate, or interfere with another company's negotiations.

Listings and negotiations

A listing is an invitation to enquire. Indicative hire, sale prices, and lead times are not offers and are subject to survey, availability, and a formal contract. Charterwa does not hold hire, freight, or purchase money, and does not provide escrow. A fixture, sale, or service order is formed only when the companies conclude their own contract. Messages on the platform are a commercial record between the participants; they do not make Charterwa a party to the contract.

Shipyard catalogue

Yard profiles shown on the shipbuilders page are catalogue examples of the sort of fabrication capacity the marketplace is intended to introduce. Submitting an enquiry records it with Charterwa and queues a follow-up. It does not mean a named yard has accepted the work, issued a quotation, or entered a shipbuilding contract.

Liability

The marketplace is provided as a commercial information and introduction service. To the extent permitted by the laws of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Charterwa is not liable for loss of hire, delay, cargo, personal injury, or a contract entered by users, nor for a listing that later proves incomplete. Nothing in these terms excludes liability that cannot legally be excluded.

Law

These terms are governed by the laws of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. If a clause is held unenforceable, the remainder continues. Questions about these terms can be sent from the contact page.
