Privacy

This notice explains what Charterwa collects when you use the marketplace, and why. It is written for company users in Nigeria and West Africa.

Information we hold

Account information includes your name, work email, phone number, company name, and the role you hold in that company. Listing information includes vessel particulars, photographs, reported availability, service descriptions, and credentials you choose to submit. Commercial use includes charter and service requirements, messages, shipyard enquiries, and contact-form messages. Technical logs include the pages requested and the security events needed to run the site.

Why we use it

We use this information to create and secure accounts, show published listings, deliver an enquiry to the relevant company record, review companies and credentials submitted for verification, and keep an audit of administrative actions. We do not sell personal information. We do not use it to place paid advertising profiles.

Who can see it

Published listing text, vessel specifications, and the operating company's public profile are visible to visitors. Draft listings, competing quotations, and messages are limited to the companies in that negotiation and to platform administrators where a review or a support investigation requires it. Contact-form messages and shipyard enquiries are visible to the submitting company (for shipyard enquiries) and to platform administrators. Passwords are handled by the authentication provider and are not stored in the marketplace database in plain text.

How long we keep it

Account and commercial records are kept while the company uses Charterwa and for as long as needed to complete a negotiation, meet a legal duty, or resolve a dispute. You may ask us to correct company details from your account settings, or to close an account, by writing through the contact page. We may retain a record of a fixture-related message where deleting it would break the audit of a transaction that has already taken place.

Where it is processed

The application is hosted for the public website, and account data is stored with our database provider. Those providers process the data to run the service. If you email us, that message is also stored as a contact enquiry so it is not lost.
